So, the heart of this issue is whether volunteer readers perpetuate 'multi-cueing reading strategies' when these amount to guessing the words on the page in preference to, or in addition to, phonics decoding.
Further, do volunteer reading helpers receive any training, or guidance, via their organisations and/or via the schools they visit?
If so, what does it consist of?
What training do volunteers receive who work in schools and support children when they read aloud?
