Sir Jim Rose re-states his support for systematic synthetic phonics

It is concerning when occasionally various people have suggested that Sir Jim Rose promoted 'systematic' phonics in his 2006 independent review in England and not 'synthetic' phonics.

Sir Jim Rose stated in his Final Report that phonics is 'much strengthened' by systematic synthetic phonics.

For the avoidance of doubt, however, Sir Jim has written a new statement to confirm his ongoing support for systematic synthetic phonics which is now added to his bio page here:

Given the importance of making sure that all children benefit fully from the best professional knowledge and practice on the teaching of reading, it is crucial for teachers to systematically apply the principles of synthetic phonic work and for schools to monitor the quality of their support for teachers in so doing.
