AUS, New South Wales: Dept of Education funds the purchase of decodable books for all NSW public schools

Post by Debbie_Hepplewhite »

Great news from Australia:

In NSW, the Department of Education has funded the purchase of decodable texts for all NSW public schools. $50 per Kindergarten student.

Details here: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-a ... -of-school

This funding grant goes along with a two-day professional development being delivered across 16 locations in NSW for DoE schools in terms 2 and 3 on Effective Reading Instruction in the Early Years and systematic synthetic phonics with Deslea Konza!

The PD focuses on this excellent report - https://www.cese.nsw.gov.au/publication ... -of-school

We have been speaking with lots of schools more interested in using explicit instruction and systematic phonics over the past few weeks.
