In this edition, we continue our focus on phonics, with an explainer from Kevin Wheldall, Pamela Snow and Linda Graham; a discussion of why the digital age makes phonics more important than ever from Tom Nicholson; and a reflection by Anne Glennie on converting from phonics-phobic to phonics fanatic. We also have several articles on reading comprehension – James Murphy gives seven steps to improving comprehension, and John Kenny outlines the importance of vocabulary. In our Q&A this issue, Kevin Wheldall speaks with reading expert Linda Siegel.
