This is a scenario we should all recognise and understand - but until the whole teaching profession is trained and knowledgeable about reading instruction, the state of affairs in this excellent post will, very sadly, continue.

Further, as you will see from a comment I have added, teachers are fed contradictions and misinformation by many intervention and literacy organisations. This must not continue unchallenged:

It’s easy to mistake symptoms for causes.

I have been thinking recently about how reading problems become more and more disguised as children get older. Instead of seeing a reading problem, we see all sorts of other problems instead.
