Scotland: Anne Glennie's 2017 petition is now 'live' again - please sign regardless of your country of origin

Dear All,

I do hope you will take a look at Anne Glennie's very simple petition urging the officials in Scotland to ensure teacher training in research informed reading instruction - specifically bringing them up to speed with 'systematic synthetic phonics' (the missing link!). It takes seconds to sign the petition in support:

There is a detailed thread of the back story below which shows what an unacceptable state of affairs this is for Anne's first petition to have been 'closed' without the outcome that is so necessary to ensure teachers in Scotland know how best to teach children to read (and spell). Please note that Sir Jim Rose and Robert Sweet Jnr signed the original petition to support Anne and teachers in Scotland. Whilst these wonderful pioneering gentlemen are no longer with us, know that they fought tooth and nail for decades to bring about change for teacher training and provision for children:

UK Reading Reform Foundation committee member, Gillian Evans, has written a blog to describe a tribunal in Scotland which failed to reach the right conclusion for her dyslexic son - this was not a 'just' event:

Please note that two expert witnesses are founding committee members of the International Foundation for Effective Reading Instruction - Dr Linda Siegel and me.

I wrote a follow-up blog to expand on the situation - this should give further explanation as to the need for Anne's petition in Scotland!
