This is a good article but what a missed opportunity to give a name to the two essential processes to being a reader in the full sense - the Simple View of Reading (Gough and Tunmer, 1986) - a model of understanding reading widely accepted in the research community and recommended in Sir Jim Rose's world-renowned independent national review in England in 2006:
